Time for war???

In the past few months, a blowup has been brewing in the Nashville area wrestling scene, and it was not with TWR announcing it's return. In a way I may well be promoting these promotions by just using my blog to speak on this subject, but it's best that I clear my head. Is that not what a blog is for?

A upstart promotion called SAW started in Millersville, TN and has TV and alot of behind the scenes backing. Since their start they have done EXTREMELY well, but at what costs? Rumors I'm not even positive of mentioning for looking like a fool have them backstabbing USWO and more recently NWA Main Event. USWO for SAW moving their shows to be in competition of sorts and saying no "double-shots" allowed. Those not in the know a double-shot is where a wrestler will work 2 nearby shows on the same night. The NWA debacle has started with a SAW backer, Freddie Morton, and a partner, Kevin Thomason, running a christmas show under the SAW banner, and costing NWA Main Event their long time home in Columbia.

My opinion? I don't care. No, seriously. I mean I know Freddie and Kevin both VERY WELL. They did not need the SAW banner to run this show, and in that respect SHOULD remove SAW's actual owner from the equation. Does NWA Main Event's Owner, Mike Porter see it that way though? Hell no. He lost a building that he ran for YEARS. One thing for Porter though the man has ALWAYS kept his ship floating. Not only did he simply retreat to Pulaski, he simply found a place to run his own show and thus the war starts.

OR DOES IT? Guys do you not realize in your efforts to piss each other off, you've now split the fans into choosing, and are doing nothing more than costing each other money? Seriously, you've just cut your workers pay and your profits to stroke your respective egos. It's not a war, It's BAD BUSINESS. SAW is not in any way taking over Tennesse wrestling. If they were TWR,NWAME,USWO, etc would all be DEAD.

You hear the bitching of Tennesse being over saturated with wrestling shows. I say no shit.About the same as we are with Wal-mart's, McDonald's, and such. There's one in every town. That is the thing that pisses you off. Another promotion comes into YOUR town, and takes your money, and your response is to "Go to war". BULLSHIT! Try making your product BETTER than that of your opposition. By doing that one thing you become THE place. That's not going to war. That's showing that your BETTER that your competitors. Not only in your product, but in your respect of what pays your bills, your customers!!!

You think badmouthing, violence, and lawsuit threats earn you any respect from your customers? No they just buy the products you produce. That's why big corporate lawsuits are not really brought into the mainstream. They are considered BAD FOR BUSINESS. Eventually someone will try to move in on you, and steal your thunder, but if you have the better service then the customer comes to you for it.

In short, pocket the egos, and step up your game. Make your product be what sells you, and by doing that your customers will come if it is the best available. You games, and threats, and shit only drag you down, and make you look worse. Is that worth the risk?
